During laser hair removal, a beam of highly concentrated light is generated and focused onto the skinand absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles, melanin. The laser pulses for a fraction of a second, allowing the hair to absorb the light and heat up, significantly reducing the hair’s ability to regrow, and resulting in permanent hair reduction. Because hair grows in phases, a series of treatments will be needed to remove the hair that subsequently enters the growth phase. Treatments are generally spaced 6-8 weeks apart to compensate for this. At Clear Skin; Tucson Dermatology
